Author Guidelines And Terms Of Participation

These author guidelines are designed to help the amature as well as the seasoned writer to construct an article not only regarding content but also optimizing the visibility of your content on the web by taking advantage of the BeyondTheOrdinary Article Distribution Network technology (BTO-ADN). To ensure the quality of our search engine optimization methods, we may make minor formatting modifications as necessary to publish your content, or if extensive work is necessary we may simply bounce the ball back in your court to make the changes. Here you will understand what we accept and do not accept for inclusion within the BTO-ADN. And this site is not governed by free speech; we may not publish your article if in our opinion it is not pertinent to the BTO Community. By emailing your article to BTO you agree to the following terms, requirements, and conditions.

FIND A QUIET PLACE TO DO YOUR WRITING!

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS TO SUBMIT ARTICLES TO BEYOND THE ORDINARY

  • MUST BE AN ORIGINAL ARTICLE FOR WHICH YOU RETAIN THE COPYRIGHT
All articles submitted to BTO must be original content that was written by you, your coauthor, or client. In short, you must retain 100% of the copyrights on any article you submit for publishing throughout the BTO-ADN. Any articles that have been identified as having been copied, in whole or in part, from another person’s original content will be rejected and/or deleted, please don't send someone else's work that only has a few words changed as we won't accept it.

  • UNCONDITIONAL PERMISSION TO PUBLISH
Any and all articles you submit to BTO are granted unconditional permission to publish and reproduce. Submission of an article also grants unconditional permission to feature your article within the BTO-ADN and any ‘run-of-network’ BTO might be associated with currently or in the future. BTO also retains the right to publish a summary of your article on various RSS blog and supporting feeds if/when we do that in the future. BTO may also use your article in any newsletters, current or future, where the content may be enlightening and informative to a particular audience. In doing so, your information, and/or links will remain as part of the original submission unless specifically requested by you that it be removed or modified.

  • PROTECTIONS OF COPYRIGHT
United States Law states that natural copyright is automatically granted at the moment of publication. “Publication” is not just specific to printed material and has clearly extended to the digital domain. Any article that is posted within the BTO domain retains a natural copyright unless otherwise granted to an author as noted within the posting. BTO freely grants any author clear copyright of his or her own material that has been accepted for publication within the BTO-ADN and/or any ‘run-of-network’ BTO might be associated with currently or in the future. However, because of the nature of the web, BTO cannot protect your copyrighted material that might get copied from any page within the BTO-ADN.

  • ARTICLES MUST BE INFORMATIVE
It is our goal to offer to the BTO community your unique experience, expertise, tips, techniques, analysis, opinions – anything that might make your presentation of a particular subject or contemplation thought provoking and of educational value. Any new way of presenting information on a specific topic is always the best approach. BTO retains the right to reject any submission not in line with our standards.

  • BE A CONTRIBUTION TO THE BTO COMMUNITY
If you think your article fits our categories, please send it our way. We want your contribution included and for you to benefit from being associated with our ADN technology. Also, you may include tips, strategies, testimonials, case studies, opinions, techniques, conjecture, and predictions.

  • NO SALES PITCHES
Your article must not be an ad for specific products or services, press releases, or sales letters. Articles are intended to aid the general public by being a free, informative resource that they may return to for answers concerning the various topics found on the site, and may be submitted to any categories except "Our Sponsors - BTO Support" section. That section is reserved for sponsors of BTO to display blatant advertising, sales ads, promotions, and specific information regarding products and services that benefit the BTO Community. Article Ads in the sponsor section are designed to take full advantage of maximum exposure provided by the BTO-ADN technology. If you are looking to utilize the advertising power of BTO and become a sponsor please visit our Advertising Page.

  • USE PROPER ENGLISH, GRAMMAR, AND SENTENCE STRUCTURE
Use a spell checker. Every article submitted will be read by a human. If it does not make sense to the editor, the article will not be published. We do reserve the right to reject articles with no explanation, but whenever possible constructive feedback will be given. Please do not overuse "!" and "…". Please insert only one space after each period, colon, or semi-colon. Periods and other explicatives should be placed inside quotes at the end of your sentences. Only use 3 dots minimum and maximum when writing this: "..." at the end of a sentence or phrase. Also, please do not use "..." in your titles.

ARTICLE FORMATTING GUIDELINES

These formatting guideline recommendations come from the experts behind the ADN technology, it is primarily based on their experience, not necessarily from what is written by the SEO gurus who have gone before them. Albeit, their experience has come from trial and error implementation of what SEO gurus have suggested over the years. (SEO = Search Engine Optimization)

  • ARTICLE TITLE

Make your title 10 words or less

Include your primary keyword phrase in the first half of the title.

Do not include URL's or your name in your title

Submissions MUST NOT be of the exact same article title previously submitted, you can do Part One, Part Two, etc., for a multi part title.

  • ARTICLE SUMMARY

Include your keyword phrase at the beginning of your summary.

Make this section readable by a human being. Do not fill this section with just keywords. The summary displays when viewing a list of articles in a section and gives the reader the ability to determine what the article is about, so make this part fetching so viewers click to read the entire article.

The summary should not be any longer than 50 words.

  • ARTICLE LENGTH

Should be at least 650 words and not exceed 2500 words. The ‘sweet spot’ for articles on the web is typically between 750 and 850 words. Of course, if you have more information than 850 words, don’t let those numbers hold you back. You may see this as an opportunity to construct an article with various parts (ie., Article Title: Part 1, Article Title: Part 2, Article Title: Part 3, and so on). This is a very powerful way to attract more traffic to your submissions as they naturally gain more relevancy when being indexed by the Web Directories and Search Engines.

  • ARTICLE BODY

Do not try to do too much with an article. In other words, convey a point maybe 2 and stop, or split into 2-3 parts.

Center the theme of the article around your main keyword phrase.

You may have 1-2 links to your website if you have one. Please provide this information in the body of your article.

Please indicate BOLD or Italics with brackets: [B: this text is bold] and
[I: this text is italicized] so that we know what you want highlighted.

Article MUST NOT include a reply to a personal email, letter or other correspondence.

  • KEYWORD PHRASES INSTEAD OF KEYWORDS

When you plan an article pick out a keyword phrase that you want to promote. In most cases, one word keywords just don't cut it anymore. There is too much competition and huge marketing budgets already standing in line for most one word keywords for popular subject matter. When you combine one word keywords with other words to make a phrase you are able to better compete for the reader's click.

Here are examples of keyword and a keyword phrase:

    Example of a keyword: consciousness

Example of a keyword phrase: understanding our consciousness

Keep your keyword phrases in the range of 2-6 words.

Example of a bad keyword title:

Effective Ways To Change Your Life

Example of a good keyword title:

Change Your Life - Effective Ways To Improve Your Relationships

You should have a minimum of 4 to 5 keywords and a maximum of 20 that must be completely related to the content of your article. Please provide a keyword or keyword phrase list with up to 20 keyword phrases with your article submission. We will use these keywords to publish your article.

  • ARTICLE SUBTITLES OR SUB HEADINGS

The way we present our articles is not exactly the way you were probably taught in English Composition. We set the format of our articles so that a reader can skim down the article to get a sense of the details of the article. With this in mind, we use sub headings to make major thought transitions between some paragraphs.

Suggestion: You may want to include more keywords and keyword phrases in your sub headings. Think of writing your sub headers in the same fashion as you do with your main article title.

  • ARTICLE IMAGE

Please provide an image to be included with your article. See examples on articles.beyondtheordinary.com of images. Make sure that you have reprint rights to the images if you send them.

  • ARTICLE CATEGORY or SUB-CATEGORY

You may suggest the category or sub-category that you feel your article is suited for. BTO retains the right to place your article under the category/sub-category that it thinks best suited for the submission.

  • FORMAT

Within your email include the Article Title, Summary, Main Body, a list of Up To 20 Keywords/Phrases, the Category/Sub-Category where you believe the article is most relevant, your Author Bio (including any links and email addresses), and your Main Contact Phone Number (not for publishing) where we may reach you if necessary, and attach an image if you wish to use one.
